Getting To Know

Our Cities

Spices in Moroccan Market

Fès

The pearl of Morocco: Fès.  Jewel of the Arab world, it is the oldest Imperial City.  Its history dates back to the 8th century.  Located between the north and the south, on the Saïs plain, it is the cultural and spiritual capital of traditional Morocco.  Everywhere, refinement: architecture, music, craftsmanship, incomparable fabrics.  Fès el Bali, Old City, Fès el Jedid, the "new" city, and the Ville Nouvelle (modern area) share the space.  three cities that must be discovered.  Get lost in the old city and the maze of its narrow streets.  Trace the course of history over several centuries.  An incredible animation leads the visitor towards immemorial traditions.  Medersas, mosques, palaces and minarets follow one another, some more beautiful than others.  The spices and dyes, the jewelry and fabrics, the perfumes, all bear witness to the prestigious history of this city.

Marrakesh

Eternal, golden, coloured, Marrakech is the tourist capital of Morocco.  Third city of the kingdom, it is located 242 km from Casablanca, 334 km from Rabat and 500 km from Fès.  Marrakech is called the red city because of the earthy colors of all the buildings and houses.  It is abundance, life and beauty.  Its attraction is immense.  Capital of the Moroccan south, "the pearl of the south" is one of the most beautiful cities ever.  Here, life is immediate.  Only time stopped.

Essaouira

Located in the west of Morocco, 170km from Marrakesh.  Although it is a quite touristy place, the original town (the medina) is still a typical Moroccan town.  It is a wonderful place to relax or practice sports that require wind.

Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate is a city in southern Morocco.  Through the Tiz-in-Tichka neck (2260m), you will discover a remarkable region characterized by the magnificence, the beauty of its different landscapes: Ouarzazate, the "gateway of the desert".

Many movies have been filmed here including The Living Daylights, Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, Lawrence of Arabia, The Man Who Would Be King, The Mummy, Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, Hanna, and Babel. It was also the location of an episode of the television series Game of Thrones (Season 3).

This city was built in 1928 by the French, who considered its position very strategic.  Ouarzazate is located on a plateau at 1160 meters high, where the Draa and Dadés rivers meet with their surprising and splendid valleys.  Its exceptional geographical location gives it the status of a city of passage: it is the starting point for excursions to the Dadés Valley to the East, the Oasis Highway to the south and to the Anti-Atlas Mountains.  Ouarzazate, above all: an open door to the dream and exciting adventure of the Great South.

Merzouga

Merzouga is a Saharan city, very famous for being the only place in Morocco where the Sahara desert has the famous dunes, which are typical of countries like Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt.  However, I would recommend doing the trip during the day because there are many landscapes to see, including a reservoir and the longest strip of palm trees in Morocco in the middle of the desert.

Chefchaouen

Chaouen: the blue city, its name means "mountain summit", is about 8 hours from Casablanca, to the north, and 2 hours west of Tangier.  It is worth getting lost in its alleys.  Take the opportunity to look at prices in the streets a little further away from the tourist circuit, and you will be surprised.  An ideal destination to spend a couple of days, but if you only stay where the tourist center is, it is a bit artificial.  The La Castellana pension is beautiful, with an interior patio and typical tiles, it is clean and well priced.  In high season the price per person increases.
